Faith is neither a way of knowing nor a source of knowledge. Faith is rather a openess and wholehearted response to God’s self-revelation. It does not prelude thinking either about what we believe or about what we are unsure of, nor does it make it necessary to search for truth or to check evidence and arguments. Faith does not cancel out created human activities: rather it motivates, purges, and guides them. It devotes “all my being ransomed powers” including reasons, to God. Like any gift intellect can be misused, but it is still God’s gift, intended by him to be fully enjoyed and rightly appropriate within context of a living faith.
